Bobby & Lizzie | Bath Wedding | Hare & Hounds
It was a very grey and rainy October morning for Bobby and Lizzie’s wedding on the outskirts of Bath, and the clouds showed no sign of letting up. It’s always a worry for couples when the forecast is so bleak, but I always try to reassure everyone that the English weather is never going to ruin your day! First of all, from a photography point of view, there’s ALWAYS options for dealing with the wet – even if it’s brollies and wellies or just running out for 5 minutes in between breaks in the showers. Secondly, once the ceremony has started and the wedding is in full gear, trust me the weather will be the last thing on your mind as you start to relax and just enjoy the day!
Lizzie and Bobby dealt with the rain like absolute troopers, and took a real “take it as it comes” approach which is always the best way. And despite torrential rain forecast all day, in the afternoon there was a break and all the guests were able to head outside for sparklers and fireworks for a lovely autumnal evening in October. Definitely meant to be!
They had their ceremony in the gorgeous Frenchay Parish Church which is hands down one of the most beautiful churches I have had the pleasure of photographing. With a balcony all the way around the top, it was great for staying out of the way of the guests but still being able to run around and get some interesting shots. I loved the photos of Lizzie walking down the aisle as you can see all the reactions of the guests as they saw how stunning she looked!
The wedding reception was a fabulous, laid back event in the Hare & Hounds pub just outside Bath. It was the perfect venue for a cosy, chilled out afternoon drinking mulled wine, eating and having fun. Lizzie and Bobby really made it look absolutely fab with the wild flowers and gorgeous floral wreaths from Compton Flower Gardens. We ran out a few times for some more wedding photos in the autumnal countryside, but really I just left them to enjoy the day!
The evening party really kicked off after dark with the firepit where everyone could toast marshmallows and it was great seeing how much fun all the guests had with sparklers! As soon as the band started, it was hard to move as the dancefloor was so jam packed and it looked set to be a fantastic night as I headed off.
It was a pleasure spending the day with two of the loveliest people I’ve met, and I wish them both all the happiness in the future!
