Blaise Castle Wedding
I had such a fun time being Joanna & Anthony’s wedding photographer. They are fun & chilled out and their wedding just summed them up perfectly! As they got engaged in New Zealand, their wedding was Hobbit themed (I know, amazing), with the tables names after places from the books, and the seating plan “second breakfast” which made me chuckle. Even the diary where they got married had a touch of the Shire about it!
I joined Joanna, her bridesmaids and her mum in one of the rooms above the village hall for a bit of the bridal prep, which was really fun and relaxed before heading over to Blaise for the ceremony. Joanna and Anthony were one of the first to have a Blaise Castle wedding outdoors, and the Dairy was such a perfect little secluded spot for the ceremony to take place. It was a bit touch and go in the morning with the weather, but luckily it stayed dry and everyone enjoyed the very cute wedding ceremony outside!
Afterwards, there was a truly awesome bubble exit tunnel which was so great for photographs as the poor couple were absolutely bombarded by the guests, and the new bride and groom lead everyone out the back to the ampitheatre (I had no idea it was here until this wedding, and it’s such a great spot)! The sun then truly came out in force, and all the guests enjoyed Pimms and snacks on the lawn enjoying the English summer! Joanna and Anthony really didn’t want many traditional group photos, instead keeping it candid and relaxed, but we did make use of the staggered steps for a fun group photo of everyone!
As all the guests left to go to Westbury on Trym village hall, I stayed behind with the bride and groom for their wedding photos at Blaise Castle. It’s lovely to just give a newly wed couple a chance to be by themselves for a bit and let it all sink in before heading off to a fully packed day. I try to keep it all fairly unposed and just let the couple have a chat and enjoy the moment. These two looked so gorgeous anyway it wasn’t difficult to get some great photos of them!
After this, we headed to the village hall for the afternoon celebrations to kick off, which started (as all good things do) with a hog roast, followed by speeches and ended with doughnuts. What more could you want! Agent Funk got the evening pumping with some amazing funk and soul covers. The dancing was pretty awesome! Such a lovely day, I didn’t want to leave!
